💡 The best mobile solution available right now is the PWA install — it creates a proper home screen icon, opens without browser bars, and is available on every Android and iPhone device today with zero download required.

Welcome to Daily Reality NG. I want to be honest with you about something before this page goes further: the native mobile app does not exist yet. It is under development. Rather than maintaining a page that pretended otherwise — promising features on an app that cannot be downloaded anywhere — I rebuilt this page to tell you the truth, give you the best available option right now (the PWA install), and explain clearly what the native app will eventually add. That is the Daily Reality NG standard, applied to this page the same as to every article.

Honest Status — March 22, 2026

This page is maintained by Samson Ese, founder of Daily Reality NG, Warri, Delta State. The previous version of this page contained a false claim that the app would run Google AdSense advertising — this has been corrected since Daily Reality NG has zero revenue and no AdSense as of this date. The native app timeline is genuinely uncertain — no false launch date will be published here. What is accurate is stated clearly. What is uncertain is stated as uncertain.

📲 Install Daily Reality NG on Your Phone — Right Now

You do not need to wait for the native app. Every modern smartphone can install Daily Reality NG directly on your home screen in about 30 seconds using a feature called Progressive Web App (PWA) installation. It creates a proper icon on your home screen, opens without browser bars, and behaves like an app — because it is one, just delivered through the browser rather than the Play Store.

✅ What You Get With the PWA Install Right Now

  • A proper Daily Reality NG icon on your phone home screen
  • Opens without browser address bars or tabs — full screen reading experience
  • Loads faster than navigating via browser because it is pinned to your device
  • Works on any Android phone with Chrome and any iPhone with Safari
  • Zero storage used — it is not actually downloading anything, just bookmarking intelligently
  • No login, no signup, no permissions required — just add and use

Android — Chrome (Most Nigerian Phones)

1

Open Chrome and Go to the Site

Open Google Chrome on your Android phone. Type dailyrealityngnews.com in the address bar and wait for the page to load fully. Make sure you are connected to data or WiFi first.

⚠️ Friction warning: Chrome sometimes takes 5–10 seconds to load the full page on 3G. Wait for it to complete loading before moving to the next step — if you tap the menu too early, the install option may not appear yet.
2

Tap the Three-Dot Menu

Tap the three vertical dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome. A menu will drop down.

⚠️ On some Infinix and Tecno phones, the menu icon may be at the bottom of the screen. If you cannot find the three dots, look at both top and bottom corners.
3

Tap "Add to Home Screen"

Scroll down the menu until you see "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App". Tap it. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the name — you can leave it as "Daily Reality NG" or shorten it if you prefer.

⚠️ If you do not see "Add to Home Screen" in the menu, your Chrome may need an update. Go to Google Play Store, search Chrome, and update it first. Takes about 2 minutes on WiFi.
4

Tap "Add" to Confirm

Tap "Add" on the confirmation dialog. The icon will appear on your home screen immediately — usually in the next available slot on your main screen or app drawer.

⚠️ On phones running Android 10 or older, you may need to hold and drag the icon from the notification that briefly appears at the bottom of the screen. If the icon does not appear automatically, check your app drawer.
5

Open and Verify It Works

Tap the new Daily Reality NG icon on your home screen. It should open in full screen without browser address bars or navigation tabs. If it opens correctly, you are done — Daily Reality NG is now installed as a home screen app on your Android phone.

⏱️ Total time from start to finish: approximately 30–60 seconds on a working internet connection.

iPhone — Safari (iOS)

1

Open Safari — Not Chrome

On iPhone, the PWA install option only works in Safari. If you normally use Chrome on your iPhone, you need to switch to Safari for this step only. Open Safari and go to dailyrealityngnews.com.

⚠️ This is the step where most iPhone users get stuck. Chrome on iPhone does not have the "Add to Home Screen" install option. It must be Safari. I know — annoying. But that is Apple's requirement, not mine.
2

Tap the Share Icon

At the bottom of Safari, tap the Share icon — it looks like a box with an arrow pointing upward (↑). A share sheet will slide up from the bottom of the screen.

⚠️ On older iPhones (iPhone SE, iPhone 6/7/8), the share icon is at the bottom. On newer iPhones with Face ID, it is also at the bottom of Safari. If the bottom bar disappeared while scrolling, scroll back up slightly to make it reappear.
3

Scroll Down and Tap "Add to Home Screen"

In the share sheet, scroll down the list of options until you see "Add to Home Screen" with a plus icon. Tap it.

⚠️ "Add to Home Screen" is not in the top row of share icons — it is in the list below them. You need to scroll down past Copy, Bookmark, and similar options. It is usually 5–7 items down from the top of the list.
4

Confirm the Name and Tap "Add"

A screen appears showing the name "Daily Reality NG" and the site URL. You can edit the name if you want. Tap "Add" in the top-right corner.

The icon will appear on your iPhone home screen immediately.

5

Open and Verify

Tap the Daily Reality NG icon from your home screen. It should open in full screen without the Safari navigation bars. Done — Daily Reality NG is now on your iPhone home screen.

⏱️ Total time: approximately 45–60 seconds.

💡 Did You Know?

According to Statista Nigeria Digital Report 2025, approximately 72 percent of Nigerian internet users access the web primarily through mobile phones — with Android holding roughly 83 percent of Nigeria's smartphone market share. The most common devices are Infinix, Tecno, and Samsung Galaxy A-series phones in the ₦40,000–₦120,000 price range. Daily Reality NG's mobile optimisation is calibrated specifically for these devices — not for flagship phones used by a minority of the population.

⚖️ PWA vs Native App — Honest Comparison

Most app pages never explain the difference between a Progressive Web App and a native app. Here is the honest comparison so you know exactly what you currently have access to and what the native app will eventually add.

← Swipe to see full table →
Feature PWA (Available Now) Native App (In Development) Matters for Nigerian Users?
Home screen icon ✅ Yes — installs in 30 seconds ✅ Yes — from Google Play Yes — easy access without typing URL every time
Full screen reading (no browser bars) ✅ Yes ✅ Yes Yes — more reading space on small screens
Offline reading ❌ Not supported ✅ Planned High — Nigerian network outages make offline access valuable
Push notifications ⚠️ Limited on iOS, partial on Android ✅ Full support planned Medium — WhatsApp Channel serves this need currently
Download size ✅ Zero — nothing downloaded ⚠️ Target under 15MB Yes — storage and download costs matter on Nigerian data
Works on slow 3G ✅ Yes — optimised for Nigerian 3G ✅ Yes — same optimisation planned High — majority of Nigerian mobile users experience 3G speeds
Article bookmarking ⚠️ Via browser bookmarks ✅ In-app bookmarks planned Medium — browser bookmarks work but are less convenient
Dark mode ⚠️ Follows system setting ✅ Manual toggle planned Low to medium — comfort preference
Available today ✅ Right now ❌ Not yet — in development High — the PWA is the practical choice for right now
⚠️ PWA availability verified March 2026. Native app features are planned and subject to change during development. Source: Daily Reality NG development records | Google PWA documentation | Apple Web App documentation

The honest conclusion from this table: for most Nigerian readers right now, the PWA install delivers the most important benefits — home screen access, full-screen reading, zero download — without needing the native app at all. The two features that the native app adds that genuinely matter for Nigerian users are offline reading and better push notifications. Those are coming. But they are not available yet. Install the PWA today and upgrade to the native app when it arrives.

🚧 Native App Development Status — Honest Update

⚠️ Correction Notice — Previous Version Was Misleading

The original version of this page described the native app in detail as if it were nearly ready — with specific features, performance targets, update schedules, and an advertising model that included Google AdSense. None of that was accurate. As of March 22, 2026, there is no native Daily Reality NG app available on Google Play or the App Store, no AdSense has been applied for, and no specific launch date can be confirmed. That page has been replaced with this honest version.

📋 What Is Actually True as of March 22, 2026

  • Daily Reality NG is a Blogger-hosted website — building a native app requires resources beyond what is currently available
  • A native app is genuinely planned but on a timeline that is honest: no launch date, no promised features, no beta access programme currently open
  • The PWA solution documented above is real, works today, and provides most of what a native app would deliver for everyday reading
  • The WhatsApp Channel is the most practical real-time update mechanism available right now — it works on every Nigerian phone with WhatsApp installed
  • When any concrete development milestone is reached, the newsletter will carry the announcement before any other channel

Why an Honest "Under Development" Is Better Than a Fake Launch

Plenty of Nigerian websites maintain app pages for apps that will never ship. They keep the page because it looks professional, even though clicking "Download on Google Play" leads to a broken link or a "Coming Soon" that has said "coming soon" for two years. That is not honest. This page will not do that.

When the Daily Reality NG native app is genuinely close to launch — meaning there is a working beta, a confirmed Play Store submission date, and a real release window — this page will say so specifically. Until then, this section says what is true: under development, no confirmed date, PWA available now.

✨ Planned Native App Features

These are the features being designed for the native app when it is eventually built. They are plans, not promises. They are documented here so you can evaluate whether waiting for the native app versus using the PWA now is worth it for your specific needs.

📡

Offline Reading

Download articles for offline access. Read on the bus, in areas with poor coverage, or when NEPA and your inverter situation means you need to save data. This is the single most valuable feature for Nigerian users that the PWA currently cannot provide.

🔔

Push Notifications

Optional, controllable notifications for new articles in categories you care about. You choose which categories, how often, and when. Not on by default — always opt-in.

🔖

In-App Bookmarks

Save articles to a personal reading list inside the app — more convenient than browser bookmarks. Saved articles sync across sessions and are accessible from a dedicated library screen.

🌙

Dark Mode Toggle

Manual dark mode switch independent of system settings. Useful for reading at night, in low-light spaces, or simply as a preference. Eye strain is real during long reading sessions.

Optimised Data Usage

The native app will be built to be even more data-efficient than the website — image compression settings, lazy loading tuned for Nigerian 3G, and a text-only mode for very slow connections.

🔍

Full Archive Search

Search across all 630+ articles by keyword, category, date range, or topic. Find exactly the article you are looking for without scrolling through the archive manually.

📊

Reading Progress

The app remembers where you stopped in long articles. Come back three days later and continue from the exact paragraph where you left off — especially useful for in-depth financial or legal articles.

🇳🇬

Nigeria-First Design

Every design decision will be validated against real Nigerian budget Android phones — Infinix Hot series, Tecno Pop series, Samsung Galaxy A series — not against flagship devices most Nigerians do not own.

What Will NOT Be in the Native App

  • ❌ No user accounts required — reading remains anonymous and registration-free
  • ❌ No social feed, no comments, no community forum — Daily Reality NG is a publication, not a social platform
  • ❌ No paid premium tier blocking basic content — free reading for all, always
  • ❌ No excessive permissions — the app will request only what it genuinely needs (internet access, storage for offline articles if you choose, notifications if you opt in)
  • ❌ No advertising until Daily Reality NG's overall revenue status changes — and that change will be disclosed on the Advertiser Disclosure page before it takes effect in any platform

🇳🇬 Built for Nigerian Phones and Nigerian Networks

The mobile web version of Daily Reality NG — which is what the PWA install gives you — is already calibrated for Nigerian conditions. Here is what has been specifically optimised for the Nigerian mobile experience.

← Swipe to see full table →
Nigerian Reality What Was Done About It Current Status
Slow or expensive 3G/4G data connections Images compressed and lazy-loaded. CSS and scripts minimised. Text-first loading so content appears before images complete ✅ Active on current mobile site
Budget Android phones with 2GB RAM No JavaScript animations, no heavy frameworks, no render-blocking scripts. Static layout loads correctly on low-memory devices ✅ Active — tested on Infinix Hot 12
Small screens (5 to 6.5 inch) Font size minimum 16px body text. Line height 1.8 for comfortable reading. No horizontal scrolling on any content element ✅ Active
Unstable connections that drop mid-load Pages load top to bottom — text appears before images. Partial page loads show readable content rather than blank screens ✅ Active
Tables that compress into unreadable columns on mobile All tables wrapped in horizontal scroll containers with swipe hint. min-width 620px forces proper column widths ✅ Active — SECTION TABLE-MOBILE-FIX applied sitewide
Battery drain during long reading sessions Zero background scripts when page is not in active use. No auto-playing media. No constant network requests ✅ Active
Offline reading when network is unavailable Not yet available — requires native app. WhatsApp Channel allows saving article links for later ❌ Not yet — native app required

💡 Did You Know?

Google's Core Web Vitals programme — which directly affects how Daily Reality NG ranks in Nigerian search results — measures three specific metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (how fast the main content loads), Cumulative Layout Shift (whether the page jumps around while loading), and Interaction to Next Paint (how quickly the page responds to taps). On the Nigerian MTN 4G network, Daily Reality NG targets LCP under 2.5 seconds, CLS under 0.1, and INP under 200 milliseconds — the thresholds Google classifies as "Good" for mobile users. These are not impressive-sounding statistics. They are the direct difference between Nigerian readers staying on a page and leaving before the content appears.

🔒 Privacy and Permissions — What the App Will and Will Not Request

The privacy standard for the native app will be identical to the privacy standard for the website. Here is exactly what data any version of Daily Reality NG collects and what it does not.

✅ Data Collected — Minimum Necessary Only

  • Google Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated visitor data. Page views, session duration, device type, general location at city level. No personally identifiable information accessible to Daily Reality NG.
  • Newsletter email: Only if you voluntarily subscribe. Stored with Kit (ConvertKit). Never sold, rented, or shared. One-click unsubscribe in every email.
  • Offline article cache (native app only): Articles you choose to download for offline reading — stored locally on your device, not uploaded to any server.
  • Notification preferences (native app only): Which categories you opted into for notifications — stored locally. Changeable or deletable at any time in app settings.

❌ Data the App Will Never Request or Collect

  • Your exact GPS location — not needed to serve Nigerian content
  • Your contacts list — not relevant to a reading application
  • Your photos, camera, or microphone — not relevant unless you submit a report (and that will be opt-in only)
  • Your call logs or SMS messages — never, under any circumstances
  • Your financial information — Daily Reality NG has no payment system
  • Any biometric data

If a future version of this app or any update ever requests permissions beyond what is documented above — stop, do not grant them, and report it immediately to dailyrealityng@gmail.com. That would indicate something is seriously wrong.

Full data handling details are in the Privacy Policy. Nigerian readers can exercise their data rights under the NDPA 2023 by contacting dailyrealityng@gmail.com.

💬 15 Questions Worth Thinking About

  1. Did you install the PWA on your phone after reading this page — and if so, did it work as described on your specific device?
  2. What is the one feature a Daily Reality NG native app would need to have before you would actually use it regularly rather than just the mobile website?
  3. Do you think most Nigerian readers notice or care about the difference between a PWA and a native app — or is the distinction mainly relevant to developers?
  4. Offline reading is listed as the most valuable planned feature for Nigerian users. Do you agree — or is there something else you would prioritise more highly for your specific situation?
  5. The previous version of this page promised Google AdSense advertising in the native app. Does finding out that was false information — and that it has been corrected publicly — affect your trust in Daily Reality NG positively or negatively?
  6. How do you currently access Daily Reality NG on your phone — browser bookmark, Google search, WhatsApp link, something else?
  7. What is the biggest frustration you have experienced reading Nigerian content sites on your phone — slow loading, layout problems, intrusive ads, something else?
  8. Would you prefer a Daily Reality NG app that is purely a reading experience with zero social features — or would you want the ability to comment, save, and share from within the app?
  9. On your current phone and network, how long does it take for a Daily Reality NG article to load fully? Does it feel fast enough, or is it a problem?
  10. If the native Daily Reality NG app launched tomorrow and was under 15MB to download, would you install it — or is the PWA already good enough for you?
  11. Do you use any other Nigerian news or content apps on your phone — and what do they do well or badly compared to what you would want from Daily Reality NG?
  12. What would make you leave a negative review on Google Play for any app — and what would make you leave a positive one?
  13. Push notifications are planned as opt-in only. If you enabled them for Daily Reality NG, how many notifications per day would feel useful rather than annoying?
  14. The page says the app will never require a user account. Do you think that is the right call — or would you actually prefer to create an account so your bookmarks sync across devices?
  15. If you had to choose between waiting for the native app with full offline support or using the WhatsApp Channel for article updates indefinitely, which would you choose — and why?

I rebuilt this page because the old version was misleading — it described a native app in detail as if it were nearly ready and included advertising plans that contradicted this site's current zero-revenue status. The honest version is less impressive-sounding but more useful: the PWA install is real and works today, the WhatsApp Channel is live, and the native app is genuinely coming — on a timeline I will not fabricate just to make this page look better.

Joshua sent me a message in February after trying to access Daily Reality NG on his Tecno Camon 19 in Kano. His words: "The site loads fine but I keep losing my place when I switch apps and come back." That single message prompted me to investigate how Blogger handles scroll position restoration on Android. It turns out there is a known Chrome behaviour that reloads the page rather than restoring position when returning from another app. It is not a bug I can fully fix from the Blogger side — but understanding it means I can build it differently in the native app.

That is exactly how this app will be built. Not from a product specification written by someone who has never used a Nigerian phone on a Nigerian network. From real problems that real Nigerian readers actually experience and take the time to report.

If you have a problem, report it. It shapes what gets built.
